Aerial Map of Blantyre c1947

Arial Map of Blantyre c1930

The photo was actually taken on the morning of Tuesday, 2nd September 1947 by either a Mosquito or an Anson reconnaissance aircraft from 58 Squadron, Royal Air Force at an altitude of 9,800 feet.

High Blantyre Cemetery is not empty as the high angle of the photo does not show the gravestones to effect, but they are there. (Comments by Jim Reddiex)
