Auchinraith Primary c1954

Hi Bill,

I found the photo. This is Auchinraith School around 1954-54. Miss Francis is the teacher and 'her room' was down the corridor with Miss Grieve next door. Miss Francis lived in the new houses (Hardie St scheme) They both taught my mother and were apalled at how bad my writing was and also my singing, I am afraid that was due to my Dad's genes.

How many do you know?

I passed Auchinraith one day after I had moved on to the big school and still down that corridor they were chanting.....

Edinburgh, Leith, Portbello, Musselburgh and Dalkieth. It was like a mantra and it was years before I realised that that was the order of these towns when approached from the west!
