Note from Jim Cornfield:
Hi Bill, Given the info to hand, it is impossible to say that there was such a Farm as(Cadha Camp) in Blantyre. However on looking through thr Blantyre Census for 1851. there are 26 Crawfords listed therein, two thirds residing in at Blantyre works Village and the remainder at Boathouse, and of these, 2 Alexander's are listed, The eldest Alex. is aged 62 and is the Ferry Man, and the youger Alex is 14 and a Scholar, possibly a grandfather and son?
It is quite possible the yougest of the two is the person who emigrated in 1862 as the boy woul be 26 years of age at that time. I will require more info, ref, Family Christian Names and if possible a copy of the back of the Photograph showing the farm, bearing in mind that Amanda is giving you her interpretation of a hand written name which may have been written in the Blantyre dialect ! Any way Bill you can E.Mail this Amanda, and at the same time give her my E.Mail address, (I'm intrigued by this name, I think that it maybe a corruption of 'Cawthur Ha' or Calderhall, for example..
Regards Jimmy.
