Causeystaines
1905
The
name Causiestaines was originally given to a group of tenements
surrounding Kirkton Park, and the tenement just visible on the
left of this 1905 picture, built in 1894, still bears the name.
Today, the view up Broompark Road looks very different. Whilst
Blakeley's Public House still exists, the building next to Causeystaines
has been demolished and replaced by a small brick extension to
a dental surgery, plus an adjoining car park. There is another
car park on the right, and beyond that a garage repair shop and a
children's nursery.
The wall and trees have also gone and modern houses stand on thier
site. Main Street is as busy today as it seems to have been when
this picture was taken.
