Lynn Forrest and Mary Park - Fernslea Avenue 1969

Hi Bill, these pics were taken in 1969 in Fernslea Avenue.  The wee lass on the bike is Lynn Forrest, and the older lass on the bike (Next photo) was my fiance Mary, now my wife for over 40 years. The bike had had an engine rebuild and we came down to Blantyre to get a chance of some mileage to run it in the engine, stopping over with Uncle Chic and Aunty Lily for the week. It was Autumn at the time and I can recall, when we went for a walk up the Calder, we found a heavily laden hazelnut bush, on the Milheuch estate, about 100 yards from the old bridge just below Milheugh waterfall. Further up, the apple and plum trees near the High Blantyre viaduct were heavy with fruit. Seemed such a waste.
