Hi Bill,

I'm long friends with a family here in New York who has roots in Blantyre. I was fortunate enough to travel with them in 1978 and 1980 when they visited their grandmother, Margaret Brown on Fernslea Avenue. I had a wonderful time while visiting and have always held it close to my heart.

Recently while visiting my friends we were going through some old photos and came across this newspaper article. As I have visited your site several times looking at photos and such I thought you might like to see it. It is probably from about 20 years ago but I cannot be sure. Margaret Brown is the 3rd women from the right and next to her with the scarf is Sara. I don't recall Sara's last name but I believe she lived on Spruce Avenue, or there about.

The Blantyre Knights of St Columba gave over 100 senior citizens a special Christmas treat last week. For they put on a Christmas Party for the pensioners in St Joseph's Parochial Hall. The party consisted of a splendid meal followed by an entertaining cabaret.
