Robert Reid

1776 - 1865

LONGEVITY — There is at present living at Springwell Cottage, Blantyre, an aged couple named Robert Reid and his wife - the former is about 90 years of age and the latter 2 years younger, making their united ages 178 years. They have had 12 of a family, 9 of whom are still alive. The progeny of this worthy couple including children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, amounts to 92 in number - making their united ages 1465.

OLD AGE — There died at Springwells Cottage Blantyre on the 14th Ult., Mr Robert Reid, at the advanced age of 90 years. He was followed to the grave by five sons, thirteen grand-sons and three great grandsons. He had been married for the long period of 60 years. His aged partner still survives.
