“SEPTEMBER SOLITUDE”
Off to Blackpool in Eighty Four
On the M74 with such a roar
All good friends setting out for a laugh
To enjoy ourselves and have a few quaffs
September weekend it was the place to be
The dazzling lights and the roar of the sea
The tram cars and the trolleys
Fish and chips, ice cream and brollys
First stop the digs, to lay down our bag
Only to be greeted by Bet Lynch in drag
The rules they were set, no guests allowed
Aye right missus, we don’t like that sound
Best gear on and off we’d go
The Gaiety Bar, where we’d steal the show
Blantyre Boys, having a great time
Half two shutting, time for some wine
Night time came, and then the fun began
Would it be Yates’s, Tiffany’s or Dixieland?
Strolling the promenade with girl on arm
Hoping you wouldn’t, come to any harm
Great memories of our time spent there
Sometimes we even, went at the Fair
We still reminisce of those times today
When the Blantyre Boys ventured away
