Aztec bars and superfast cars,
Donnie and David, were dreamy pop stars,
( ask your mum)
The Bay City Rollers were all the rage,
Parsley chased Rosemary and Sage,
The Wombles tidied up Wimledon common
Led Zeplin were about- to lose the great John Bonham,
(ask your dad)
Concorde flew at the speed of sound,
The Magic Roundabout, went around and round.
The Incredible Hulk got his own TV show
The pace of life… was nice and slow,
We loved to hate John McEnroe,
Ali and Foreman, boxed toe to toe.
I felt like Bambi at Crossmaloof
I’ve still got the bruises if you need the proof,
I learned to ski in the south of France
Farrah Fawcett put me in a trance.
Jim fixed it, for everybody but me
Swap Shop ruled Saturday morning TV,
I bought my first single, Alright by Free.
Abba won Eurovision
And I found it quite hard to make a decision,
Whether to marry a blonde, or a brunette,
Puppy love for a girl called Annette.
We still look back on the seventies
With multi-coloured glasses,
I hope this brings them back
To all you forty something, lads and lassies.
