Terminal One - A brief history
All projects operating from Terminal One are managed by the Blantyre Youth Development Team (BYDT). The team was established in 1984 by local activists, determined to improve facilities and representation for young people in Blantyre and surrounding areas.
After a lengthy campaign, suitable accommodation was secured and through local consultation, the most popular activities among young people identified. The building, previously “The Elizabeth Scott Centre” was refurbished, equipped with an impressive array of modern music, photographic and other state of the art equipment and re-named Terminal One. It was opened to the public in December 1991 by Councillor Malcolm Waugh.
